Shirley needed some more dresses, so I started by making this
little blue cotton dress with a mix of gingham and flower print.
This was made with a mix of 2 different 14" doll patterns.
Not too bad if I say so myself!
This next dress is vintage.
I found this dress on eBay. It is a pale blue Dotted Swiss.
This dress came off another Shirley Temple doll.
I soaked this dress in fels-naptha for several days,
but the lace is still a bit yellow.
I felt it needed a sash, so I tried this big bow.
I may change this. You can see the lace on the skirt
is a lot less yellow for some reason.
Oh and Shirley finally got some new shoes,
but we are waiting for some socks to be delivered.
(more on that later)
Very sweet!
You had a great find on e bay. The dresses are beautiful.

The dresses are very nice, Shirley Temple looks like she just came out of a box.

I especially like the Swiss dot dress you made. you did a very good job. The doll looks great in both outfits.

Thank you Joan, yes I really like the ebay dress too. I love dotted Swiss anyway, it's just so feminine.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marion, I was just lucky to find her in such good shape under all that dirt. I browse ebay and I have seen some Shirley dolls with bad haircuts, chewed hands - I was very fortunate!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marion, I wish I had made the dotted swiss - its an ebay find; but I still love it! I love that you have such confidence in my sewing ability! The first dress I did make though, so thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'd say that blue is definitely Shirley's color! So pretty!

Yes Fawn, I agree. I really loved the blue dotted Swiss when I saw it on ebay. The blue dress I made is just from scraps I had lying around, but when I dressed her in these 2 dresses I really liked the blue. I may make her a pink dress though.
