Dresses, dresses, dresses!

Several years ago, I found this adorable dress and hat set
for my repro Patsy doll. I wish I still knew
the name of the lady who made this set.
I bought 3 or 4 of her sets for
my different size dolls.

This is my American Character Sally
with 3 of these dress and hat sets.
(The pink dress set I made)

I took it out the other day and noticed this yellowing!
I think it might come from wood stain leaching
onto the fabric from my antique dresser.

SO!!
I am trying to see if I can get rid of the yellow without
bleaching out the other colors.

Since this is a modern reproduction I
don't hesitate to start with some Spray & Wash.

I saturated the yellow areas and set it to soak.
This may take a few days, so onto my next task...

THE MISS REVLON DRESS

Awhile back, a lovely lady sent me this Miss Revlon dress.
She had found this dress at an estate sale and recognized it.
She knew someone out there would appreciate this!
She found my blog and contacted me.

Someone had taken apart an original Miss Revlon dress
and used it to create a pattern.

This is the part where I hang my head in shame....
I was afraid to start work on it!

The lining is in tatters.  Should I cut out a new lining?
Might I damage the dress further by
ripping out the old lining?

The front looks pretty good, so what to do?

In my usual Savage Doll fashion I have finally
decided I must plunge ahead.

I will remove the back lining and leave the front as is.

Luckily, I have an original pink dress to compare to.

So, here I go, wish me luck!

Upon closer inspection, I realized the
shoulders had been cut!

Using basting tape and a bit of muslin,
I reattached the shoulder fabric
so the fit would be right.

After the fabric was reattached, I used fray chek
to reinforce the fix.

So, bodice is put back together and ready to
attach the skirt.
I will clean this all up after
I know it is all going to fit!

Looks pretty good.

I don't have any rhinestones, so
I decied to use this little button.

I decided this dress needed a hat.
I am playing around with this
fascinator, ribbon and tulle.

BACK TO THE FIRST DRESS

After soaking for three days I laid the dress and hat
flat on a towel to dry.

Almost all the yellow came out of the hat!
There is still a slight tinge of yellow in the
blue fabric of the collar, but not too bad.

Want to see it on!?!

This is my repro Patsy.
This dress fits her best.

I love this little sun hat.

Very Sweet!

And now,
the Miss Revlon Dress!

Here's Marylou in her restored dress.

Her hat is just pinned.  I want to take
my time deciding if this is how
I want it to look.

I love her long wavy hair.
But, I'm not satisfied with this hat.

Here's another look for the hat with
 the bow in back.
Hmmm, better I think.

Well, the hat may get another look, but...

The dress came out lovely!!
Thank you again Anita C.

And here's one more look at Patsy.

What's happening in the dollhouse?

 It's 2024!!

What are the Savage Dolls up to?

Marylou and Cissy are relaxing after getting
all the Christmas decorations put away.

Marylou: What are the girls up to?
Cissy: I think they are going skating.

Julie: Use your arms Kit, they help your balance.
Maggie: Oof!! My arms didn't help...
Willa: I'm doing it!!

Martin: I'm finally finished!
My marble tower is complete!

*Whir-whir, click-clack, whirrrr, clack*
Woo hoo! Awesome!

Martin:  HEY!  Don't skate over here!

Julie:  Oh Martin! We're not going to
knock over your tower!
Martin: That's what you said last time!

Julie: Well, It won't happen this time!

Willa:  Look Martin, I'm skating!!
Martin: Great...

MEANWHILE....

Molly is doing some mending with a little
help from Missy.

Grace is learning to crochet.

Grace: Look I made granny squares!

And Emma is catching up on her reading.

Kit: Whew! I'm tired.
Maggie: Me too!
Nina: You'll get used to skating and
you won't get tired so quick.

There's one other new item to share!

The white lights inside the dollhouses have been
added onto, all around the room!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
