Thrift store doll clothes are so fun to find.
I found these pieces in my town.
I particularly love this dress because...
Dachshunds!
This dress will be getting a makeover.
This grey and white floral is made in the
same style as the Dachshund dress.
This skirt is SO cute!
Then a 30 minute drive away I found these.
This pink jumper.
And this cute PJ set and slippers.
As if that was not enough...
THEN!
Just guess who I found?
An 18" Madame Alexander
1977 Pussycat Doll.
She is very clean and her crier works!
I washed her hair, just so I could style it.
I put rollers in her bangs, but
I might have saved myself the trouble.
They didn't curl.
The clothes are all washed and ironed.
want to see how they look now?
Here
They
Are!
I added a collar, sleeves and pocket to the
Dachshund dress.
I used this reproduction 1930s style fabric.
Nice pose Joan!
This skirt is very cute, but it needs
something...
It reminds me of my Mom's square-dance
dresses. I used to wear them for
dress-up as a girl.
Sally Ann likes the PJs.
She says they are very soft.
Joan is looking very pretty in the grey floral.
I added this little sweater since
it's getting cool here.
AND
HERE
IS
THE
BABY!
She is very sweet!
She is very sweet! BUT, sadly I already
have a doll just like her and the doll room
rule is: "only one of any doll".
She is up for adoption!

What wonderful finds! I love that dachshund dress. Wouldn't it be sweet to find such a fabric for Betsy McCall? Ya know that brown skirt could be adapted for fall too... although I love the idea of a square dance outfit... lots to think about, but you always come up with some good ideas and makeovers. Should be a lot of fun! ππ§‘πΌπ¦πππ»
ReplyDeleteHello friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I am very pleased with the Dachshund dress. I just happened to have that repro fabric in the right colors! I am going to keep looking for something that works better for the brown skirt. I may see if it could be fitted to my 18" Miss Revlon dolls.

Hi Brenda,
ReplyDeleteThe Dachshund dress is so cute. That was another wonderful haul of clothes you got! I love Madame Alexander pussy cat dolls, as always you have done a fantastic job of restoring her to her former glory. I hope she finds a home soon.
Anna

How I would love to adopt the Pussycat doll, but I can not do money transfers from Zimbabwe and transport would be an issue. I have a doll made in South Africa (SAD) that looks similar to her, she was sold inb1970 as Daisy.

Margaret.
Hello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteI wish you could adopt the Pussycat doll too!! It is frustrating trying to ship to other countries. It’s so expensive! I’ve heard of SAD dolls from another reader here. I love learning about dolls in other parts of the world.
