Christmas is Coming Soon!

I know! I know! Some of us
Don't want to think about it yet!
Sigh....we moms have to think
about it but not quite yet....
I'm thinking about Christmas dresses!

I was looking for possible Christmas
dresses for Daisy and found this
red gingham dress.

This dress first appeared in an
Easter post in 2020! It is
made for a bit larger doll.

You can see in this photo how much taller
Joan is than Daisy.

But Daisy has this cute little pot belly.
Which means...?
She has the same size waist as Joan!

Since Joan and Charlotte have LOTS of dresses
I decided to fit this dress to Daisy.
I needed to adjust the sleeve and waist.

I put the dress on Daisy, inside out.
Then I pinned it to fit and sewed
along my pins.  The waist fit fine, so
I started at the waist and sewed
out to the sleeve.

The waist line was good, just a little long.
I did a simple fold down, about 1/4 inch.
Then I top-sewed this fold.

I added these cute buttons that remind
me of a gingerbread girl. A red
velvet bow finished it off nicely.

I had another problem.
Daisy has no shoes that fit her!
I decided to try making some
little felt slippers.

I decided to try this pattern.
I wanted to credit the poster of this
pattern but the directions and info
were  all in Russian!

I adjusted it to fit a couple doll sizes.

(feel free to use this pattern. Click on it,
then save it to your computer as a
JPEG and print at 8.5 x 11)

I cut out 2 of each pattern piece
using thin wool felt.

I stitched a decorative line all around except
where the sides and soles will meet.

Heel piece stitched with white thread.

I started with the toe piece first.  I just set my speed
to very slow.  Then I adjust as I go around.

Sew the front, then the back making
sure they overlap. Keep in
mind that felt tends to stretch.

Be sure that your strap is on the opposite side before
 you sew the second shoe.

Turn your shoe right side out and sew
a button on the opposite side to the strap.

Fold the strap over and snip an opening for
the button hole.

Here are the finished shoes.
Not too bad!

Cute, I like it.
I think Daisy has a new
Christmas outfit.

Daisy is very excited for
Christmas!

    1. Hi Jennifer!
Thank you! I am pleased with how her dress and shoes came out. She has been the hardest doll to find vintage dresses for! I was happy this dress worked with a little fitting.

    1. Hi Anna,
Thank you! I was really pleased with this shoe pattern. It was not too difficult. Daisy is a smallish doll, so I was ready for a struggle making these small shoes. I really slowed down my machine speed so it didn't get away from me and it worked great!
