An Engagement!

Just a few months ago, Lauren and Tom met
for the first time.

Tom took Lauren to dinner that same night!
Love was definitely in the air.

They went to a romantic Holiday Ball.

Lauren invited Tom for a picnic.

Tom and Lauren were at the beach taking sunset walks...

Spending long lazy days relaxing...

And Tom even taught Lauren to surf.

They were inseparable!

TOM?
(Oh no) Oh, hi Viola, what are you doing here?

Never mind what I'm doing here,
are you looking at rings?!?

Please, Viola, you have to keep this secret!

Oh Tom! I'm so happy for you!
Of course I won't say a word!

Julia! Amanda! You'll never guess who I ran into
IN FRONT OF A JEWELRY STORE!?

Calm down Viola, What are you talking about?

Tom! He was looking at engagement rings!!!

WHAT!?! Are you sure?

Oh yes! I made him tell me!

Oh Viola! Should you be telling us?

Oh no, I promised Tom I wouldn't!
I couldn't help it!
He's taking Lauren to dinner tonight!

Tom wanted to recreate their first date
as a romantic gesture.
He asked Lauren to wear the
 same dress and everything!

Lauren felt it was a VERY romantic gesture,
so she put on her dotted swiss and joined
Tom for dinner.

After they ordered, Tom slid a little box onto the table.
"Lauren, will you marry me?"
"OH! Yes Tom, I will marry you!"

LATER THAT EVENING...

Lauren! You're back!

Yes, we wanted you to be the first to know,
Tom asked me to marry him!

Show us the ring!!

Sigh.

A WEEK LATER...

I think this is the gown!

Oh Lauren! You look beautiful!!

  4. I thought that was a huge diamond! I use those as earrings when a doll has green ear and I don't want to go through months of treatment trying to remove it. Yes, they fall off but you get so many on a card it doesn't really matter. I'm looking forward to the wedding. Betty

  5. Thank you Maryn,
I did make Lauren’s dress. I used some satin my grandma bought for my wedding dress 40 years ago!
I’m glad you enjoyed the post.

  6. Hi Betty,
Thank you. I was racking my brain trying to figure out how to create an engagement ring without damaging my doll. Then I thought about these sticky gems! It worked perfectly.

  8. Hi Gaela,
Thank you. I am pleased with Lauren’s dress. It was made from sone old ivory satin my grandmother bought. I recently added to my guy’s wardrobe so all 3 have nice dress suits. I made their ties and bow ties to match the girls dresses. I enjoy adding little details like that.

What a wonderful story. I have been watching the Hallmark Channel over the last few days. This is a doll love story which makes me think of the ones I have seen on TV.

  10. Hi Dorothy,
I'm so glad you like my story! I must admit, I enjoy creating these little stories, especially with the 10.5" dolls. They always seem to be so busy! I love the Hallmark Channel too!
