Another thrift Wellie Wisher!

Look who I found thrifting!

This is Willa, an American Girl
Wellie Wisher Doll.

I fell in love with these little girls when they
first came out at American Girl. At that time,
my daughter had outgrown dolls and I
could not justify purchasing one
of these dolls just for myself.

But time marches on and I found my FIRST
Wellie Wisher at a thrift store.
This is actually Willa #1

So when I saw Willa 2 in a bin I could not
leave her behind!!
(I swear she whispered, "Please don't leave me!")

This is Willa 2.  She was wearing this dress
and she had her original panties.

She was dirty and her hair....

Was a wooly rats nest!!

She was quite dirty, I am sure from lots of love .
How could I leave her behind when,
I KNOW,
I can help her find a new girl to love her?

I've got my cleaning crew and she's ready for a bath.

Here is Willa during her bath.
Look at all that DIRT that
came off with the magic eraser!

All clean!
Willa looks happier doesn't she?

I put her dress and panties in to soak.

Here is Willa 1 and Willa 2, side by side.

You can see how wooly Willa 2's hair is.

Using a ceramic flat iron on the lowest setting,
I straightened Willa 2's hair.  I only do about 1/2"
section at a time while the hair is still damp.

Next I put some wig Styler Conditioner on each
section of hair and rolled it up.

Willa wore the curlers overnight and here is
the result from the first curl.

All her curls look great!

I had this little Minnie Mouse set.
Willa loves the dress and she now
wants to go to Disneyland!

She also got some shoes and socks.

So, this is the dress she came in.
It's too long and the underskirt is raveling.

I hemmed the underskirt.

I shortened the bodice.

Whenever satin is closed with velcro,
this happens. Frays and snags.
UGH.
I removed the velcro and added a snap.

My solution is to create a lace covering.
This will hide the snags and add
a little cap sleeve look.

Here is the dress after hemming and
adding the lace.

A Friend Indeed!

HAPPY THANKSIVING!!

As you all may already know, I love to go thrifting.
I share my love of thrifting with my bestie, Joanne.
We don't live close together, but when we
see each other it is ALL THRIFTING.

When we are apart we still look for each other's
favorite things.  I look for Fiesta Wear and Daisy and Dot stoneware
for Joanne and she looks for vintage dolls for me.

Recently Joanne sent me a text with this photo:

"Interested?"

I wrote back immediately:

 "American Girl Kit Kitteridge!! Yes!
Are there any more AG clothes?!?"

When Joanne got back to her house, she sent me this photo.
Kit only had her top sweater and these misc. clothes.

This photo shows Kit in her meet outfit.
I knew I wanted to get her missing pieces
so I went online shopping.

I found a replacement meet outfit.

Then I saw this!
All her accessories!  It's not shown, but I also got
her little green hair barret!

These are all the clothes Joanne found with Kit,
plus an extra hat I already had.

Here is my Kit in her new meet outfit!

Want to see how Kit is fitting in at the Doll House?

Here's the latest!

Cissy: "Martin! What have I asked you about
leaving your tools on my table?!?"

Emma: "Sorry Cissy we're going to help mom work
on her new Powder Room."
Kit: "Wow, on the table..."

Cissy: "There you are Martin! I need to start our turkey!"
Martin: "Sorry Cissy, I'll get all this out of your way."

Martin: "Hi MaryLou, can you help me move this tool box?"
MaryLou: "Sure Martin. Sorry Cissy!"

Girls: "Hey! We want to help too!"
Martin: "Maybe when your bigger."

Molly: "What in the world is going on in here?"
Kit: "That is what I am wondering."
MaryLou: *giggling*
Girls: "OH! Is there cake?? Yum."

Kit: "Is it always like this around here Emma?"
Emma "Well, yes, it usually is."
Kit: "I think I like it here."
Emma: "I'm glad."

My Powder Room - For Real!

My blog posts have been hit and miss lately, because
my DH is actually building me a powder room
in the sewing/doll room!

Remember this storage area from the
Doll Room Tour?

It is slowly becoming a little powder room!

We're getting down to the final install of
plumbing and tile.

This is what my sewing and creative space
has looked like for a couple months now!!

And this!
Oh and everything is covered in dust!!!

I know it will be wonderful when it's done
Stay tuned for the finished room in the near future.

AND, thank you Joanne for finding Kit!!
You are a friend indeed!

AND...

Welcome Kit to the Savage Dollhouse.

Betsy McCall room is finished!

In my previous post I had reached this point.

I had constructed 2 chairs and bunkbeds.

I found two little dressers to be painted.

My next step was to glue craft paper to create wallpaper.
I used this tacky glue since the inside of this box
is plasticized.

After the striped paper was in, I added this
"Love is the Flower of Life" border.
You will notice a break in the paper.
This is to allow for the sides to open and close.

I use my photo editing program to create
framed artwork for the girl's room.
I print it on photo paper and cut it out.

Next I painted the 2 dressers and crocheted a rug.

I made this little bottle into a lamp.
Then I gathered some small items to add
to the girl's decor.

SO,

HERE

IS

THE

FINISHED

ROOM!!

Here is the new doll case next to the old case.

The girls are very happy!

"YAY! Our NEW room is finally done!"

Good night everyone.
