I think it's time for a room update!
This is the whole room from the doorway.
The left side and...
The right side.
To the right next to the door is the closet
where I store all my doll clothes and
accessories.
As I keep moving around the right
side of the room we see...
The secretary, AKA the Little Miss
Revlon Townhouse.
Oh, I almost forgot!
Almost hidden in the corner is the little Tiny Betsy
doll room. On the left is Sophie and on the
right is Melanie.
BUT, over in that corner I NEVER see them!
SO NOW....
They are now right next to my desk, so I
see them whenever I am working.
Next to the Little Miss Revlon Townhouse is
the window. On the window sill are my
1950s era fashion dolls and my Suzie Sunshine.
I do not like the dark grey blind.
But, I need it to block the sun,
but so dreary.
SO! Things are changing!
I made a pink satin drape to cover the dark blind.
This pink may be too dark, but it will have to
do for now.
Below the window are my Composition dolls.
1936 Daisy and Biscuit.
Daisy is a Patsykin by Effanbee.
just a cute tiny baby carriage.
1945, Charlotte and Joan are Effanbee
Patsy Joan dolls.
And 1930s Sally Ann. Sally Ann is an
American Character Sally doll.
Moving down the right wall we come to
the glass cabinet. On top of the glass
cabinet are my small
Baby Dolls.
Janie on the left and China Baby Ellen on the right.
Janie is a Patsy Baby from the 1930s and Ellen was
painted by my Grandmother in the 1970s.
Inside the glass cabinet, the baby dolls
sit on, is my Patsyette Townhouse.
This is the bottom floor.
On the left is Helena and on the right is Elizabeth.
They are also from the 1930s.
This is their bedroom on the top floor.
As we move along the right side of the room,
we come to my work area.
My Tiny Betsy's are now here.
As we move around to the left we come
to the room's corner. The baskets hold my favorite
children's story books. On the shelf is my parents
wedding album and a favorite photo of my kids.
I love this corner.
And here is my desk. Actually it is an old dressing table.
It's part of a bedroom set that's been in my
family since around 1920.
This is how my desk was set up before.
Same dark grey blind in the window. Blah.
I made a second drape! I think I may go get more of this light
pink and redo the other drape.
Now I can see my photos and my Cute
Suzie Sunshine. Suzie moved from the other
window, you'll see why soon.
Next we come to my sewing table. Nothing much has
changed here. This is an antique oak kitchen
table. I love it for my sewing table.
On the wall to the left of my sewing table is this shelf.
That black floral doll dress was from a China doll
that belonged to my Grandma when she was a girl.
Sadly her little sister dropped the doll and
she was broken!
And below is my large baby dolls and my
1940s Georgene Raggedy Ann and Andy.
And in her own cradle my recent find
Dimples from 1928.
NOW, we are at the BIG dollhouse.
Here is the whole. We will start at the top and move down
left to right.
Top left is my Ideal Crissy room. On the left is Crissy
and on the right is Shea.
Here is the girls record player. They love
listening to the Jackson Five.
Between the left and right top is Shea's guitar
a wicker chair and a dresser. The little
girls like to play with their
Etch-a-Sketch.
On top of the dresser.
The right top is the room shared by Mia on
the left and Cricket on the right.
All four of these girls are growing hair
Ideal dolls from the 1970s.
Also from the 1970s are my Liddle Kiddles.
On the left is Dainty Deer Animiddle and on
the right is Florence Niddle Kiddle.
These are replacements for the dolls I
played with as a girl!
Next is the middle floor.
On the far left is this little rom for
my Wellie Wishers.
Kendall and Willa.
Next is, WELL! This is a surprise a little later.
This is Elise from the 1950s. she has moved!
Third room over is Molly's.
And on the far right is Emma's room.
Next is the bottom floor.
Bottom left is the Living Room.
On the left is Kit and on the right
is Martin.
The middle room is our Kitchen.
I made this range with some help from my DH.
The China cabinet.
Bottom right is Julie and Grace's room.
They are still deciding on a design.
BUT! What's the big change?!?
This room is now Bethany and Kimberly's!
They are excited to start decorating!
Bethany and Kimberly are from around 1983.
So their room will be...
The 1980s Room
Bethany and Kimberly LOVE pink!
Well, because of...
AND
The girls just love how
Molly Ringwald dresses.
They love oversized jackets and shirts.
The girls like all the oversize fashions
of the 80s.
The girls have a nice collection of SWATCHES.
(what 80s girl doesn't?)
And brooches to add to their outfits.
The girls love to look at all the teen
magazines!
This is Kimberly's side of the room.
This is Bethany's side of the room.
The girls have a new poster, but no room to hang it!
They'll figure something out.
In the mean time, here are
some more 80s outfits!
Oversize jackets with lots of pins.
mini-skirts with tees and flats.
This is Kimberly's 'Pretty in Pink' outfit.
I love Bethany in lavender!
Cute hat Bethany.
I made the girls some oversize vests.
They love to accessorize with pins.
A close-up.
Both Vests are reversible!
Here's a close-up of Bethany's.
Very pretty girls!

That was a great tour! Everything looks so nice and fun. I kinda like that dark pink behind the 50s girls... kinda feels like an elegant curtain perhaps at a fashion show or a singing event. Either way though light or dark would be wonderful. Thank you for sharing. - Jennifer 😊
The doll room is adorable! I always love to see the changes you make from time to time. and I *think* I recognized the pink fabric of Kimberly's vest :-). Thanks for showing us the updates!
Hi Jennifer,
Thank you! I will leave the dark pink I think. The more I see it the more I like it. I was thinking the same thing, that it makes a great backdrop for photos.

Hi Mary,
Thank you! Yes, that is the fabric you sent with Kimberly! It is perfect for the 'Pretty in Pink' theme. That is my favorite of the two vests I made. I had so much fun with this room. This is when I was in high school, so very nostalgic for me!

I love how you have decorated the Doll's Room. You have put so much into each display. What a wonderful room to work in and to visit and enjoy. Great job on the two new vests for the girls.
I used to love the Seventeen magazine, I was born in 1960 so my teens were in the 1970s. At the time our country was called Rhodesia, it became Zimbabwe in 1980. We used to get magazines from the UK and the USA but they were months out of date. My mum and I had such a lot of fun copying clothes for my sister and I from Seventeen and Jackie ( a UK teen magazine).
Regards
Margaret
In addition to copying clothes for ourselves we also made clothes for our dolls. We were given our first sewing machine when I was 10 and my sister was 8 ! Even our brother used it to make avtent for his Action Man doll (similar ti G.I Joe ?)
Margaret.
Hi Brenda,
I love your doll room tour. It's such a beautiful place. It always inspires me. I love the new room and pretty in pink theme. The 80's outfits look fantastic on the girls. The pink fabric is a great way to brighten up the windows. I think the dark pink makes a very galmorous backdrop for the 1950's girls.
Anna
Thank you Tea Rose!
I do get a great deal of enjoyment from my doll room. I have always loved everything miniature. This has given me a whole world of collecting small size decor. The vests turned out much better than I had anticipated. After finding a pattern I happened across a video explaining how to make them reversible. SO helpful!

Hi Margaret,
Me too!! I was born in '66 so not too far behind you. I was in high school during the 80s so I had fun recalling all the ways we dressed and the movies we watched. I did my best to be in fashion, but in those days money was tight! I started going to thrift stores back then!

Hi again Margaret!
My grandmother was an amazing seamstress and sewed for a Hollywood designer in the 1950s. It was compulsory for me to learn to sew in my teens. I am SO grateful for that knowledge now. As you are already aware I love to sew for my dolls too! Learning how to turn these vests inside out and finish all the edges was new to me, but grateful I now know.

Hi Anna,
Thank you, I do enjoy my dol room. It let's me forget about adulting when I'm in here. haha! I went down a nostalgic road with the 80s room. This is the when I was in high school. You are the second person to like the dark pink. I think I will keep it.

Those are all such beautiful displays, but where are all the campers for the Revlon dolls?
Susan
Hi Susan,
The doll camper is put away in a closet until I need to make another post with it. You can search the blog for "Doll Camper" or look for "Going to Utah", or "Fish Lake", they are some recent posts with the camper.
