14" Sweet Sue Walker Doll 1956

I was out antiquing this weekend and
I found this little Sweet Sue doll.

She is a 14" walker doll.
I am told from one of my
knowledgable readers, she
is from 1956.
(Thank you Jenny!)

She was mussy, pale and dirty
and her dress was ill-fitting.

The dress is obviously for a different doll.
Her panties, stockings and shoes
are in good condition.

I am hoping these marks are just dirt
and not deep scratches.

She has a rooted hair pate.
She got the usual spa treatment.

I use wig shampoo, conditioner spray
Mr. Clean sponges and an old toothbrush
on really grimy spots.

I mixed up some cheek and lip color.

I use a make-up sponge dipped in my color.
Then I tap it almost dry on a paper towel.
Then I tap on dolls cheeks.

WANT TO SEE HER NOW?

Thank you Zacisze,
This little girl definitely needed a makeover. I think she looks happier.

Brenda,
Your doll IS a Sweet Sue, from 1956, with rooted pate. The bigger dolls this year also had vinyl arms with elbow joints, that looked like Cissy's or Horsman Cindy arms.
Again, a wonderful save!
Hugs,
Jenny :-)

WOW! Thanks Jenny!
She had no markings, so I thoughts she was a clone!
I need to update my post.

Thank you Marion,
I am always hoping to find makeover dolls. I had made this dress for another doll, but it really suited her coloring.

Hello Brenda,

What a marvelous revival of this Sweet Sue - she looks adorable. They sure did name this doll right!

I have had several Sweet Sues in my life, of a variety of sizes and they all have that "sweet" look to them.

I am sure she is pleased with her new dress, too, it looks lovely on her! I'm so glad you rescued her!

Thank you Janet,
It is amazing to me how many dolls you have had! I was not sure she was a Sweet Sue, but Jenny let me know she was! I had fun fixing her up and making her pretty again.
