Look who I found!
This is a Vogue Ginny Doll
from around 1955.
Yes, she was in a thrift store.
She has good color in her face.
Vogue Ginny dolls were designed by
Jennie Adler Graves in 1948 for the
Vogue Doll Company.
She became popular for her adorable
features and detailed outfits and accessories.
Later more family members were added.
Ginnette a little baby and Jill
an older sister.
And later still, Jeff and Jan.
They are the two on the back left.
This is my Baby Ginette.
This is my Vogue Jeff, who I named Thomas.
Back to my Ginny.
She came with these little sweet dresses.
I believe this may be her original dress.
Pink taffeta with blue trim.
Brown cotton with overlarge trim.
This may get a makeover.
Very sweet yellow gingham.
I think this may have been a swim suit, but
missing the bloomers.
Her hair is a big mess.
Her spa day starts with a hair wash.
These dolls had their hair glued
directly to their head. The hair is often
awkwardly glued and discolored.
First brush out. Not too bad.
And the front.
Found this little slip in
my 'small doll clothes' drawer.
Her hair was getting nice braids when
this happened!
Poor girl, so much icky glue!
In for a penny, in for a pound!
I decided to soak the glue out of her hair
so I could smooth and style it better.
NEXT MORNING
Ginny's clothes have soaked overnight...
And are laid out to dry.
Ginny's hair has re-curled itself!
As soon as it is dry I will
reglue it to her head.
I covered a small area of her crown
with 'Tacky Glue'.
I laid her wig on this area and
held it in place with a soft
hair band.
I tried different hairstyles but
braids seemed the best solution
to keep her long hair in order.
I wanted her to have a hat. I thought I
might have at least one small hat.
I found three!

IS!

Hi Brenda,
That is my dream to find a Ginny doll at a thrift store, and to find some cute clothes as well is a bonus. Ginny is a favourite of mine with all her little accessories. Your Ginny looks so pretty after her makeover. I love her plaits. I am so pleased Muffie has a friend now.
