The Final Driving Trip Doll

The final Doll from our driving trip to
Seattle and Portland, is this
1950s Shirley Temple doll.

This little girl was found in Chehalis, WA.
This is the cutest small town! It is chock
full of antique shops. I wore myself out
going from one to the next.

(photo recreated)
I was ready to give up from exhaustion. I had
gone from one antique shop to another!
Is there such a thing as TOO many antique shops?
There she was lying on an old ironing board.

Sadly she had no clothes!

She was naked when I found her.
I put her in some PJs as soon
as we got back home.

She had dirty toes.

And dirty fingers, but...

Her hair was in pretty good shape.

It's time for a bath!

I hope all these black spots come off.

She is made by Ideal.

She looks happy getting all washed up.

I used this synthetic hair (wig) shampoo
and a magic eraser. Her fingers and toes
got scrubbed with a toothbrush.

Freshly washed! Time to comb out her hair,
but first...

The color has rubbed off her lashes,
which are formed plastic.
I carefully touch them up with a
sharpie.

Much better!

I have used this spray on several hair
projects now and I like it. I used
it on Shirley's hair, which was
very stiff and crunchy.

After spritzing her hair, I combed
her wet hair into finger curls
and pinned it with tiny bobby pins.

This is how she turned out!

I used small bobby pins to
hold her hair in place.

Very cute!

I had this dress which looks very
Shirley Temple-ish.

She likes this one, but it needs
to be fitted to her.

This is a little dress I have had
for a long time.  I think it works
for her.

Here are some Before and After photos.
