The Bed
I thought I could use a wooden Barbie size bed but
could not find one to buy. My daughter had two
wooden photo frames she did not want with a carved
decorative piece on the top and bottom. One frame
was a rectangle and one square. I thought they
would be good for bed ends. My husband cut the
bottom off each one and used a piece of wood
to fill in the gap in the headboard and attached
the base board to complete it. I painted it and
made the bedding for it.
The Bedside Table
This was made from a little vase I found at the op shop.
I found a jam jar lid that fitted just inside it for the table top.
I covered that with fabric and finished with Ric Rac trim.
I used a small vase for the lamp base, but did not
want to permanently attach a shade to it. The
shade is made from a pudding container I cut the
base out of and covered in fabric. I found a plastic
lid that fitted into the base of the pudding container
and the shade just sits on top of the vase.
I also put a tea light in too, so it can be switched on.
The Lounge Area
I wanted a lounge area, but did not have a lot of
room as the bed and dining furniture are quite large.
I had the crochet mat already ( my daughter made it).
I originally purchased a set of 1950's Pert Pat furniture
from ebay, but the seller could not find it and cancelled
the order. There were no other sets in my price range
and I did not want to risk purchasing another set in case
it did not fit, by then I had changed my colour scheme too!
I thought for days about what to do and then I
remembered your slipper chair tutorial. I liked the fact
that they also fitted with the bedroom end of
the room too. I took the plunge and gave them a go.
The coffee table my husband made for me, using
the carved offcuts from the picture frames used
for the bed. I already had the teaset. The little lace
doilies I have used in various places I found at
an op (thrift) shop.
Sideboard
The sideboard is actually a cutlery and serviette
holder turned on its side. I had collected the little
miniatures on the top over the years from various op shops.
The Jumanji game is from the World's smallest toy range.
The little decorative box is a trinket box my Mum
and Dad gave me years ago. The book is the one
and only one I have ever made for my dolls!
The bags along the bottom are various ones I have collected.
Dining Table and Chairs
I already had these and had painted them blue. I made
the placemats to match the kitchen and had the
bits of a vintage tea set which I had collected at
some point. I made the chair cushions for the chairs.
Kitchen
I had a 1980's Sindy kitchen I had purchased in a bulk lot.
It was in poor condition with doors missing and a
faded splash back. I also had the blue table and chairs.
I found some fabric my sister had given me and
decided to use it as my colour palette. I had imagined
a vintage 1950's kitchen with pretty floral prints
and pastels for my colour scheme but I had
the kitchen so decided to work with it. I replaced
the missing doors with a curtain in
my chosen fabric. I replaced the splash back, the
new one can be removed and the old one is underneath.
I knitted the hanging pot holders and made
the matching tea towels.

I found the sewing machine at an op shop a few years
ago and knew it would work for Little Miss Revlon.
At some point I got a Vogue Jill desk and chair to use
for the sewing table.
The shelf on the wall contains fabric and the rolls of
lace are bits of lace wound onto some larger
beads, the same kind I used for thread.
The balls of yarn are from some earrings my
daughter had and did not wear. I took the
hooks off them. They are just plastic.
On the top is two bolts of fabric, two jars of tiny
buttons and a storage box from a dollar store.
The little chest on the floor is for extra fabric storage
The little shelf on the wall I purchased from ebay
and painted it. Knowing I wanted to do a sewing area
for the Little Miss Revlons. I had seen a little sewing set
of miniatures, with bolts of fabric (on top of shelf),
scissors and a ruler (hanging up),
the vogue patterns on the desk, cards of tiny buttons,
and some thread. The bowl on the desk contains thread
most of which are beads with thread wound on. The tiny
bobbins are beads with thread wound on too.
The knitting basket I decorated to match
and made the knitting and needles to go in it.
The chest of drawers
I wanted it to seem like this was a bedroom space.
I added a chest of drawers I already had.
The little clock, picture and basket of flowers
were op shop finds. The mirror above the chest of
draws is made from a wooden coaster that
I painted and decorated with flower decorations.
So that is the Miss Revlon home. It is nothing like
I originally planned. The colours are not what
I had planned either. Orange is not usually my
first choice, but I had a lot of orange ric rac and
it matched the fabric I had chosen. Despite that
I had so much fun doing it and making things work
and trying to make or use of things I already had.
I was also trying to make different scales work too.
